Jason talks about The Whirlwind", first coined in Four Disciplines of Execution by McChesney, Huling and Covey. Basically, it’s the idea that all the daily distractions and fires we have to put out, can totally derail us if we’re not careful. It’s a powerful image, and while it’s meant for business, it’s spot on for anyone presenting or speaking, too.

Think about it: In speaking and presenting, it’s the same deal. You’ve got to know exactly what you’re aiming to communicate. You’ve got to be crystal clear on your goals and keep them front and centre the whole way through.

And it’s not just about knowing your end target - it’s about preparing with the right mindset and staying locked in on your message. Whether it’s a three-minute pitch or a longer presentation, your job is to keep the audience engaged and make sure each beat flows seamlessly into the next.
